Digital Signage

What is Digital Signage exactly?

What is Digital Signage?

Digital Signage is a way to get messages to a targeted audience by using screens. These screens can be television-style LCD screens, but also huge outdoor LED-screens.

How does it work?

Disignage has a large database of visuals, and with the use of sophisticated planning software (our Panamint Planner) we plan all visuals to ensure maximum impact. The visuals are distributed over the internet, and arrive on location at a dedicated PC (the Media Server). This PC distributes the visuals to the screens that are present at the location.

Why does it work?

There are two main reasons why Digital Signage works so well:
  • It is targeted towards the viewer
  • It is present at the right time, in the right place
Targeted towards the viewer
Good Digital Signage content is made to measure to it's audience: the right tone of voice, image use, proposition, etcetera.
Right time, right place
The Digital Signage visuals can be planned so that they appear at the right time. In a supermarket, for instance, you could show a microwave meals advertisement on Monday through Thursday afternoon from 4.00 PM until 7.00 PM, and fresh vegetables and beer on Friday evening and Saturday. Moreover, Digital Signage is present right at the place where most of our purchase desicions (research says that over 70% of these decisions are made in the store) take place!

History

Digital Signage is a relatively new medium, but not as new as one might think. TV-screens with a VCR mounted underneath have been around for quite some time. However, the technological developments of the past years show massive improvements: screens are getting thinner and cheaper, and the internet offers great opportunities for planning and distribution of the visuals.
